How were you called to become a Christian?
Some say they were called when the Holy Spirit talked to them one day and invited them to accept Jesus and be saved.
Some say they were called when somebody laid their hands on them and did a miracle.
Others say they were called when someone prayed for them and they were saved instantly.
Still others claim that they didn't have a choice in being saved and called to become a Christian. What do you say? Or better, what does God say?
How does God say we are called to become a Christian? What does the Bible say?
Listen to the revelation given through the Apostle Paul in II Thessalonians 2:14. "It was for this He called you through our Gospel, that you may gain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ"
Surprised? The Scriptures say that we are called through the Gospel of Christ. Why? James 1:21 says that "...the word implanted, which is able to save your souls."
So we've learned that we are called to become a Christian through the Word of God and it is able to save our souls.
The Apostle Peter said in I Peter 1:22 that our souls are purified by obedience to the truth.
Luke 8:11 says, "The seed is the Word of God."
Peter again through the Holy Spirit says in I Peter 1:23 that we "have been born again not of seed which is imperishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God"
Peter adds in I Peter 1:25 that "..the Word of the Lord endures forever"
Since the Word of God is imperishable and can save and lives forever, it has my attention.
It says we must be born of water and the Spirit to enter the Kingdom of God John 3:1-5
You see, the Gospel "is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek" Romans 1:16.
We invite you to become only a Christian, a child of God, a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ. Like Ananias told Saul, Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, called on His name" Acts 22:16
As a penitent believer, when are you willing to put Christ on in baptism or immersion? Galatians 3:26-27
When are you willing to obey the Scriptures and God by being buried with Christ through baptism into His death? Romans 6:3-4
